Social Groups
Our social activities provide a unique and welcoming meeting ground for members and guests whilst pursuing their leisure interests in the company of like minded people. Below are some examples of our activity focused social groups.
ITC Golf Club
The ITC Golf Club is for all members who enjoy golf. We have been in operation for several years now and generally organise one formal ITC Charity Golf Day per year and submit teams to play in competitions with other Livery Companies. This year our flagship event was the ITC Charity Golf Day on the 2nd June at The Lambourne Golf Club, where we welcomed 72 golfers, including teams from several other Livery Companies. An ITC team played in the Prince Arthur Inter-Livery Cup and, although we did not exactly distinguish ourselves, we did well enough to be invited back next year. We also played in the Marketors Charity Golf Day and are looking forward to playing in the Loriners 750th Anniversary Charity Golf Tournament.
ITC Yacht Club
The group is open to members of the ITC and their guests who have an interest in yachting or motor boating and would like to meet with other like-minded members and have some fun - not only for those members who are boat owners or sailors.
In addition to cruising and sailing occasions we also aim to provide social events, for example a visit to the Greenwich Yacht Club, which houses the IT Company’s Thames Cutter.
ITC Ski Club
The ITC Ski Club is for members who are interested in skiing, and for their partners, whether skiers or not. It organises social events in London, and also informal get-togethers in ski resorts, and on the ski slopes.
ITC Clay Pigeon Shooting Group
The group is for ITC members with a shared interest in shotgun shooting and we annually enter a team in the inter-livery clay-shooting competition. There are also one-off events including, this year, a Charity Clay Day at the Bisley Shooting Grounds aimed (as well as at the clays) at raising money for our new Academy.
Social Gatherings
Bangers
The Company meets informally once a month for a couple of hours at Bangers Wine Bar. This event is open to all Liverymen and Freemen, and prospective members. These get-togethers offer a truly excellent opportunity for new and prospective members to meet in an informal atmosphere over a glass of wine or beer. Members of the Court are usually in attendance and will be happy to answer any questions you may have about the Company and its current activities. The ambience is very relaxed, and prospective members attending on their own will find a ready welcome.
Leander
Bangers isn’t always convenient for those living or working outside London so roughly quarterly we hold a similar social event at the Leander Club in Henley. Founded in 1818, the Leander is one of the oldest and certainly the most famous and successful rowing club in the world, and the home of many of our world and Olympic champions. As well as meeting fellow IT practitioners at our get-togethers, there is often the chance to rub shoulders with aspiring or current Olympic athletes and coaches.
Partners' Dinner
This is the major social event of the year, a special evening of fine dining
and musical entertainment to which the partners and guests of Liverymen
and Freemen are especially invited, held in the magnificent surroundings
of the Egyptian Hall, a particularly beautiful room at Mansion House.
Mansion House is a rare surviving Georgian town palace in London. With
its magnificent interiors and elegant furniture, the Mansion House
provides the Lord Mayor of the City of London with living, working and
entertainment space. Built in the age of Hogarth, the Mansion House,
then as now, is a symbol of the City of London as the world's leading
international financial and trading centre.
Mansion House was originally intended to enable the Lord Mayor to
represent the City in appropriate style, and it continues to fulfil this
function more than 250 years later.
Other Dinners
We also host two black-tie dinners during the year in a different City livery hall each time (of the magnificent forty to choose from): these are the Installation Dinner in October in honour of the new officers of Court and the newly clothed Liverymen; and the New Freemen's Dinner in January.
Business Lunches
Business Lunches are held quarterly, the objective being to provide a forum for Liverymen, Freemen and guests and to create more visibility of the Company’s work.
