Industry
The Industry Committee contributes to the general advancement of information and communications technology by encouraging best practice, facilitating the sharing of knowledge and experience and promoting a better understanding of information and communications technology.
Our membership looks to continuously help shape the future of IT and its composition reflects that. We are proud to have as members: Microsoft founder Bill Gates; Internet pioneer and currently a Google Vice President, Vint Cerf; and inventor of the World Wide Web, Sir Tim Berners-Lee.
We support charitable activities related to the above and leveraging the particular experience of IC members. To these ends we recruit members with particular knowledge and experience of the ICT industry and user communities and maintain links with other key bodies, including:
-
BCS, the Chartered Institute for IT
-
The trade body Intellect
-
Thought leadership, education and research institutions
-
Briefings from industry experts and thought leaders
-
"Big issue"debates on themes of importance to the industry and community
-
Special interest groups covering topical issues.
We have a particular focus on the City, its industries and the contribution of ICT to its prosperity:
-
The Lord Mayor of London spends 60% of his time promoting the City abroad as the best place to do business. The Information Technologists Company helps the Lord Mayor do this through a group of 12 livery companies (The Financial Services Group) which have skills most relevant to the modern age (e.g. Insurers; Tax Advisors, World Traders etc). We help ensure that the Lord Mayor is well briefed and we look to provide a fast track for specialist help and advice.

GAYL to the WCIT
Give as You Live (GAYL) raises money for the WCIT Charity every time you shop online. It costs you nothing, it’s hassle free and you pay the same price as normal to favourites, like Amazon, M&S and John Lewis.
If every member joined up donations could add up to £000’s per annum. Persuade your family, friends and colleagues to join in and we could seriously boost our fund.
